Your rug is strong, and is meant to be used and enjoyed! If good care is taken, your rug will last a lifetime and more. They are made in the traditional manner, without the use of adhesives which eat away at wool fibres, and make cleaning/ repairing/ restoring extremely difficult. The rug loops are held tightly together by tension - Hooked rugs have been made this way since the 19th century.

General cleaning: vacuum your rug without the beater bar, shake it outside to dislodge dust and dirt. Wool naturally repels dirt and grime, but does need to be dusted on occasion.

Spot cleaning: test your gentle cleaning solution on an inconspicuous spot on the backside of the rug. Spot clean with mild, wool friendly detergents like woolite rug cleaner.

Gentle bath: if necessary, you can set your rug in a tub with cold water. Allow it to soak for a few hours and gently agitate it to clean. Roll it up in a thick towel, and lay flat to dry.

Traditional snow method: Allow the rug to come to outdoor temperature before laying it down onto clean dry snow. Brush clean snow onto the face of the rug with a broom, and brush the dirty snow off. Repeat as needed. Lay indoors on a flat surface to dry.
